My research interest is mainly focused on distributed systems including middleware, cloud and enterprise computing, big data, cyber-physical systems, networking, and cybersecurity. My main research goal is to develop models, techniques, and platforms for integrating heterogeneous distributed devices and systems. This enables the development and robust operations of new emerging analytical, monitoring, and control applications in different industrial domains such as health, energy, security, finance, transportation, and logistics. These days, I work with a number of researchers in a number of research topics focusing on cyber physical systems and cloud computing. In cyber physical systems, we investigate reliability, architectural, and routing issues in linear wireless sensor networks (LSN) with applications in securing and monitoring critical infrastructures such as on ground and underwater long oil, gas, and water pipelines. We also investigate different issues in collaborative Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and collaborative vehicles including middleware and development issues, networking and security. In addition, we investigate different issues in cyber-physical energy systems for smart buildings. In cloud computing, we investigate issues related to load balancing, distributed large scale Data as a Service (DaaS), middleware for efficient replicated cloud service utilization, e-health cloud, and UAV-Cloud platform design.
